FHA-compliant mailboxes must be installed no lower than 15" and no higher than 48" from a forward-facing approach, aligning with USPS installation requirements for parcel lockers. This installation height range also complies with ADA lower reach range regulations. To ensure accessibility, mailboxes must not protrude more than 4" along walkways, corridors, and other passageways, as protruding objects could obstruct canes or wheelchairs. Objects mounted lower than 27" above the finished floor can protrude any amount as long as the minimum clear width of an accessible route is maintained. Surface-mounted 4C mailboxes with parcel lockers placed at 15" from the finished floor meet these FHA Accessible Routes requirements.

It's important to note that although many STD-4C modules may be USPS-approved, they may not always be suitable for installation in certain scenarios to achieve full compliance with ADA and FHA requirements. Factors such as facility type, location, and available space will influence the selection of USPS-approved 4C mailboxes and parcel lockers to ensure your project is fully compliant.
