According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), there are many sources of indoor pollution in homes, including household cleaning products, wet carpet, tobacco products and building materials. He explains that HRV systems reclaim heat from exhausted stale indoor air to temper incoming fresh air. Heat is retained during cooler seasons and removed during warmer seasons. ERV systems transfer moisture from incoming, humid air to the stale indoor air that is being vented to the outside in the summer, while transferring humidity from exhausted indoor air to treat the cold, dry incoming air during the winter months. All models are equipped with unique defrost systems allowing for installation in any U.S. climate. “All BROAN HRV/ERV systems are designed to be ducted whole-house solutions,” Nielsen adds.

Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRV)

The BROAN HRVH100SE is ENERGY STAR qualified and equipped with a HEPA filter that removes 99.97 percent of allergens and other microscopic particles in the air. It has a state-of-the-art blower design, allowing for quiet operation. According to Nielsen, this model is suitable for a standard family-size home that requires up to 100 CFM of continuous ventilation.

THE BROAN HRV150TE is ENERGY STAR qualified and one of the most eco-friendly HRV air exchangers on the market. Its innovative design incorporates extremely high performance ECM motors, which enables it to operate on power equivalent to a compact fluorescent bulb (13.5 watts), significantly lowering energy costs. Additional energy-efficiency is found through its advanced heat recovery core, which can retain up to 80 percent of a home’s heating. It surpasses energy-efficiency standards by over 250 percent while providing effective heat recovery, ventilation and quiet operation. This model meets a variety of ventilation requirements due to its adjustable settings to accommodate homes needing as little as 80 CFM to 157 CFM of continuous ventilation.

The BROAN HRV70SE and BROAN HRV70TE are ENERGY STAR qualified and ideal for homes, condominiums, apartments and other limited space applications that require up to 70 CFM of continuous ventilation. With its compact size and 4-inch horizontal ports, it can be installed in small spaces such as a closet or mechanical room above a hot water tank.

Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERV)

THE BROAN ERV140TE is ENERGY STAR qualified and designed as one of the most energy-efficient ERV air exchangers on the market. Suitable for standard family-size homes that require up to 140 CFM, its innovative design incorporates high performance ECM motors, significantly lowering energy costs. It also surpasses energy-efficiency standards by 230 percent. According to Nielsen, ERVs are ideal for LEED-certified residential projects and other energy-efficient homes because they recover the heat or coolness of the indoor air while helping to maintain comfortable moisture levels inside the home.

The BROAN ERV70S and BROAN ERV70T are the ideal choice for homes, condominiums, apartments and other limited space applications that require up to 70 CFM of continuous ventilation. Similar to the HRV70SE, the ERV70S is ideal for small spaces because of its compact size and 4-inch horizontal ports.

Like the HRVH100SE, the ENERGY STAR qualified BROAN ERVH100SE model is suitable for a standard family-size home that requires up to 100 CFM and for those seeking HEPA filtration.
