Just recently the Czech Building Academy named the Pavlov Archeological Park as “Building of the Year 2016”.

The Czech Building Academy recently named the Pavlov Archeological Park, “Building of the Year 2016”. The museum is located at an important Pavlov archeological site in the Pálava hills near Brno in the Czech Republic, an area of outstanding natural beauty that has been declared a protected landscape area by the government.

Pavlov Archeological Park Project Details

The Czech Building Academy recently named the Pavlov Archeological Park, “Building of the Year 2016”. The museum is located at an important Pavlov archeological site in the Pálava hills near Brno in the Czech Republic, an area of outstanding natural beauty that has been declared a protected landscape area by the government.

Because the local landscape was to be a serious consideration in the museum's design, architects Radko Květ Studio built a largely underground concrete structure with a few protruding turrets, the latter giving it the appearance of “limestone rocks standing out from green meadows and vineyards”.

Substantial ground and rain water were potential problems and, as a result, a monolithic watertight concrete was specified.

Aware of the successful history of Xypex Admix for waterproofing and protecting concrete in underground construction, the contractor, OHLZS, selected Xypex as the structure's sole waterproofing system.

Inside, the museum combines modern audiovisual technology with traditional museum displays of the site's Paleolithic relics.
