Singapore Environment Council Reaffirms PENETRON’S “Green Label” Certification”

Launched in May 1992, the Singapore Green Labeling Scheme (SGLS) – or Green Label – is Singapore's leading environmental standard and certification mark for the “eco-labeling” of environmentally compatible products and services. Administered by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC), the Green Label is applicable to most products (except food, drinks and pharmaceuticals) and must be renewed regularly to remain valid. It is recognized as a reliable environmental standard across Southern Asia – for both industry and consumers.

“Our Green Label re-certification is the most recent effort to optimize the way we do business at PENETRON following strict environmental guidelines,” adds Robert Revera, President and CEO of The PENETRON Group. “We’re working with a number of standards to improve our product development, production and distribution processes.”

Creating a Global Sustainable Footprint
Building a sustainable global company is an around-the-clock effort. By focusing on the functionality and quality of our concrete waterproofing products (and our environmentally sustainable formulations), PENETRON technology contributes to a sustainable end result.

“We implement an environmental management system for our product development and production,” explains Revera. “Our state-of-the-art production facility is one of the cleanest in the industry and utilizes a waste handling program that produces extremely little waste to substantially minimize environmental contamination. Raw materials are also sourced as locally as possible to eliminate the carbon emissions of trucking from far distances. Product development utilizes as much recycled and alternative materials to increase sustainability and help reduce carbon emissions associated with producing virgin ingredients.”

ISO Approval and LEEDS Compliance
PENETRON International is certified for the ISO 14001 environmental standard, including the product development center and production plant in the United States. ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard that emphasizes the continuous improvement of an environmental management system (EMS). Similar to the Green Label, the ISO certification is a globally recognized industry benchmark.

PENETRON products help to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) guidelines. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, the LEEDS rating system is a United States standard that defines “green building” construction. Used as a design guideline and third-party certification tool, it strives to improve occupant well-being, environmental performance and economic returns of buildings using established and innovative practices, standards and technologies.

“These standards all demand adherence to high levels of quality and reliability,” notes Revera. “They help us create a globally sustainable footprint for all our activities and innovative products. They’re an important part of the PENETRON crystalline waterproofing technology.”
