Why should you choose to use our Resin?
First, what is resin?
Our resin is a Linear Low Density Polyethylene. LLDPE is a synthetic plastic material that is found in common products such as cafeteria trays and outdoor trashcans. Resin is the best choice for a myriad of products that need to withstand years of wear and tear.
Strong & Durable
Resin products are virtually indestructible and will not corrode, rust or rot. It’s non-porous, so it doesn’t stain and nothing seeps in or out. It’s unaffected by extreme temperatures because it has a tremendous freeze/thaw capacity. From -40 degrees to 140+ degrees, your resin will not crack, warp or distort.
Non-hydroscopic
Because our products are non-hydroscopic, they will not absorb moisture from the air and suffer water damage.
Maintenance Free
Our resin is maintenance free and will never need painting or refurbishing. It’s treated with a UV Inhibitor so it won’t fade, chip, peel, crack or corrode.
Graffiti Resistant
Due to the formula of our resin, most paints will not easily bond to it. If someone tries to spray-paint your products, you can easily erase the vandalism with an over-the-counter Mr. Clean Magic Eraser product, or a pressure cleaner.
TerraCast® products are designed to withstand various conditions for long periods of time.
Easily Moveable
Unlike stone and other raw materials, TerraCast® products are 75% lighter and do not require heavy equipment to move.
We use a manufacturing process called rotational molding, or roto-molding for our products. Roto-Molding is the concept of building the item from the outside in, creating precise and strong edges, and corner details.
The two-mirrored halves of the mold fit together and are filled with our proprietary resin powder base. The molds lock together and is placed in a special oven that heats the mold and resin powder to 500-700 degrees, depending on the size and shape of the mold.
The polyethylene powder base becomes liquid plastic as the molds rotate in the oven. The two locked halves become one, giving the final product 360-degree symmetry, excellent balance, and unmatched strength and integrity.
Faux-Stone
Our standard faux-stone blends come in Brazilian Terracotta, Terracotta, and several shades of Granite: Charcoal, Ash, Verde, and Sandstone.
Our special stone blends mimic the look of stone. However, where granite can crack or chip, our Resin does not suffer damage from impact, water or weather.
Customizable
All of our resin products are customizable in size, shape and color. We can match or create any color or blend to fit your needs.
We can also fabricate custom molds to create a line of completely unique items, like faux-stone statues.
We can even add your brand, logo, name or message onto any product.
Made in USA
Our resin is all made in the USA. We use domestic materials and work with other American vendors to craft our quality resin products. Bob Grossman and Tom Schidel founded TerraCast® in 1969. Recyclable
Our resin is made with up to 100% post-consumer recycled material, qualifying for LEED credits. It has minimal environmental impact associated with its fabrication and manufacture. Resin products can be recycled into future generations of TerraCast® creations.
