Case Study: Acoustical Ceilings at Comcast Center

Towering over the Philadelphia skyline at 975 feet, the Comcast Center, which serves as the headquarters for Comcast Corporation, the largest provider of cable services in the United States, was designed to receive a LEED for Core & Sell Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. To accomplish this goal the Developer, Liberty Property Trust sought to implement green design and construction practices. Offering optimum sustainably, several CertainTeed Ceilings products were used in various locations throughout the building.

Two of CertainTeed’s highest recycled content products – Ecophon Focus Ds and Focus Dg - were selected for use in the Center. Approximately 13,000 square feet of Focus Ds and Focus Dg were installed in the building’s executive conference room and on-site restaurants Ralph’s Café and Table 21 Steakhouse Bistro. With a LEED-recycled content of 73% both products offer the highest such percentage of any ceiling panel available in North America and gave the building a significant green boost.
