Howe Green, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of floor, wall and ceiling access covers, is experiencing increasing demand for their specialist wall access panels for tiled walls.
The Howe Green Tile-a-Door + was recently specified for use in an exciting new residential and entertainment hub in the east of London in the UK. The Scene, which resulted from the redevelopment of an old shopping mall, comprises a movie theater, restaurants and over 120 apartments. Residential house builder Hill Partnerships developed the award winning and contemporary multi-million dollar project.
The Tile-a-Door + wall access panel provided the ideal solution to enable simple and cost effective access to concealed plumbing services in the high quality bathrooms in the apartments. If the situation arises where maintenance to the plumbing is required at some point in the future accessing the problem will now be a lot quicker, easier and far more cost effective.
Howe Green provided custom panels sized to the exact fit of the tile grids that the housebuilder was using. This ensured that the panels were quick and easy to install. The Tile-a-Door is supplied ready to tile with up to a 10mm thick finish. If required magnetic latches and security lock options are available.
The Tile-a-Door is popular for environments that are unlikely to require frequent access, such as a residential bathroom. However in a commercial setting, for example restrooms within an office block, or public places, such as airports and stations, where more frequent access to the plumbing services is expected the Howe Green Waldor 50 is the preferred solution.
The Waldor 50, a stainless steel wall access panel with a concealed side hinge, has been designed specifically to facilitate frequent access to concealed services in tiled walls. Twenty nine of the panels were supplied, through Howe Green’s US distributor FF Systems, to an International Airport in Washington. The panels were required to provide easy access to plumbing services in the restrooms within the main concourse.
The increasing demand for wall access panels, in both residential and commercial projects, illustrates the consideration that is being given to ease of future maintenance and the whole-life cost approach to design and build that is being adopted by leading property developers.
