A public restroom, or restroom used by staff and visitors in a large facility or shopping center, must be able to withstand a high amount of traffic and frequent cleanings.
For many public areas, the restroom might be the first or only part of the facility that visitors see. Because of that, the appearance of the restroom is one of the most important aspects. With high amounts of traffic comes high amounts of cleaning. Public access to public restrooms means accommodations for wheelchairs and strollers. It must be slip-proof, even in wet and rainy weather.
There should be no cracks or crannies where bacteria or mold can grow and not be reachable for cleaning.
Another consideration is that staff restrooms in manufacturing facilities is likely to get whatever material is being worked with tracked into the restroom on clothing or shoes. Ceramic tile is not an option in a public restroom, because it absorbs water through the grout joints. The grouting also permits bacteria and other liquids to enter.
Epoxy, on the other hand, is impervious to water, chemicals and bacteria. It does not need waxing. Dirt, grime and cleaning chemicals or manufacturing residue is easy to remove, because epoxy is non-porous.
A public restroom flooring option that delivers all that you need is Kwortz by Duraamen. Kwortzis a 100% solids resin epoxy that is ultra-tough. Kwortz incorporates decorative quartz, ceramic or marble aggregates to impart a variety of visual affects. The floor can be finished in gloss or satin finish coats, with a variety of colors available. Kwortz can be installed at different thicknesses for various amounts of impact resistance. Additional coatings are available to make Kwortz chemical resistant.
