(SPICELAND, IND)—The introduction of the U.S. Green Building Council’s updated LEED® 2009 is more of a reorganization than a complete overhaul of the green building certification system. Still, the changes raise new questions about where sustainable products can now contribute to gaining LEED credits on a project.
To answer some of those questions, Draper, Inc. has published a new document outlining where and how the company’s window shade products may contribute to LEED credits. “Draper’s Impact on LEED 2009” was written by Clint Childress (LEED®-AP), Draper’s Green Building Coordinator and a Window Shades Product Specialist.
“Draper products may contribute to obtaining credits in several areas,” according to Childress. “Most of those opportunities for Draper shades to make an impact are in the Sustainable Sites, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovative Design categories.”
In the document, Childress also points out areas where product selection among Draper's Gym equipment and projection screen lines is an important consideration.
LEED 2009’s major enhancements are in harmonization, credit weightings and regionalization.
