The Boston Society of Architects (BSA) honored building designer Leers Weinzapfel Associates with a 2008 Design Award for the University Library Services at Harvard University (AKA 90 Mount Auburn), located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
In a statement, BSA called 90 Mount Auburn a very direct design, and praised the architects design approach, saying that it does not pander to the existing context but instead is made sensitive through massing, scale and texture
The buildings façade is comprised of NBKs Terrart® -Large terracotta tiles in a custom limestone color with a honed finish. The tile size measures approximately 1 x 3. These particular tiles were chosen to create a natural stone look.
This suspended façade construction, ventilated at the rear, offers a good solution for implementing modern architecture that fits well into an area that is comprised of older brick buildings.
