American Black Walnut (Juglans nigra) is a tough hard timber of medium density. It is native to the U.S. and its principal commercial region is the Central States. Its cooperative working characteristics, coupled with its rich brown coloration puts the wood in a class by itself among temperate-zone hardwoods. Applications include furniture, gunstocks, veneer, cabinetry, architectural interiors, high class joinery, doors, flooring, and paneling.
