Kemlite. CSI 3-Part Specifications.

1.01 DESCRIPTION

This section describes the requirements for furnishing and installing fiberglass reinforced plastic panels according to manufacturer's recommendations.

1.02 SUBMITTALS:

Submit in accordance with Section (Insert Section Number)

1. Two samples of each type of panel each type of trim and fastener.
2. Shop Drawings: Indicate the location and dimension of joints and fastener attachment.
3. Installation Guide #6211.

1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE

Provide panels and molding only from the manufacturer specified to ensure warranty and color  harmonization of accessories.

1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING:

1. Delivery of Materials: Package sheets on skids or pallets for shipment to project site.
2. Storage of Materials: Store panels indoors in a dry place at the project site.
3. Handling: Remove foreign matter from face of panel by use of a soft bristle brush, avoiding abrasive action.

1.05 PROJECT CONDITIONS:

1. Installation shall not begin until building is enclosed, permanent heating and cooling equipment is in operation, and residual moisture from plaster, concrete or terrazzo work has dissipated
2. During installation and for not less than 48 hours before, maintain an ambient temperature and relative humidity within limits required by type of adhesive used and recommendation adhesive manufacturer.
3. Provide ventilation to disperse fumes during application of adhesive as recommended by the adhesive manufacturer.

PART 2: PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS

1. Acceptable panels: (Insert from Item 1,2,3 or 4 Part A.)
2. Division Bars, Corner Trim: Panel manufacturer's standard length extruded vinyl pieces; longest length possible - to eliminate end joints (Insert from Item 1,2,3, or 4 Part B)
3. Fasteners: Non-corrosive drive rivets. (Insert from Item 1,2, or 3 Part C.)

PART 3: EXECUTION

3.01 PREPARATION

1. Examine backup surfaces to determine that corners are plumb and straight, surfaces are smooth, uniform, clean and free from foreign matter, nails countersunk, joints and cracks filled flush and smooth with the adjoining surface.
2. Do not begin installation until backup surfaces are put into satisfactory condition.

3.02 APPLICATION

1. Do all cutting and drilling with carbide tipped saw blades or drill bits, or cut with snips.
2. Install panels with manufacturer's recommended gap for panel field and corner joints.
3. Fastener holes in the panels must be predrilled 1/8" (3.2 mm) oversize.
4. For trowel type and application of adhesive, follow adhesive manufacturers recommendation.
5. Using products acceptable to manufacturer, install the frp panel system in accordance with panel manufacturer's printed instructions, Installation Guide #6211.

3.03 CLEANING.

1. Remove any adhesive or excessive sealant from panel face using solvent or cleaner recommended by panel manufacturer.

Alternate products shall meet or exceed the following Fire-X Glasbord properties:

1. Underwriter's Laboratories (UL.) Classified - embossed FXI .09" (2.3mm) only.
2. Class A Flame Spread of less than 25, Smoke Developed less than 450 per ASTM-E84 latest version.
3. Barcol Hardness (scratch resistance) of 55 as per ASTM D-2583
4. Panels with exhibit no more than a 0.038% weight loss after a 25-cycle Taber Abrasion Test using CS-17 abrasive wheels with 1000 g. wt.
5. Gardner Impact Strength of 22 in. - lbs. (25.6 cm - kg) showing no visible damage on front side per ASTM D-3029.
6. FMRC (Factory Mutual Research Center) approved. Subject to the conditions of approval as described in FMRC Report J.I. IV549.AM-embossed FXI .09" only.
7. Meets USDA / FSIS Requirements.
8. ICBO Report Number 4583.
9. A means of frontside identification and confirmation of meeting Class I (A) interior finish requirements after installation and while in service (without labels)-embossed FXI only.

2.01 MATERIALS:

1. Special colors can be custom matched and manufactured provided there is a minimum square footage order of 12,000 square feet (1,115 square meters). Please call for quote and allow 4-6 weeks lead time.
2. Standard sizes are 4' x 8', 9', 10' and 12' (1.2m x 2.4m, 2.7m 3.0m and 3.7m). Ceiling panels of 2' x 4' and 2' x 2' (.6m x 1.2m, .6m x .6m).
3. Embossed Fire-X Glasbord panels are identified by trademarked blue and red threads manufactured into the back of the panel and trademarked dual florescent embedded threads on the front of the panel (visible only under UV light).

3. Rivets: Optional. A. Wall and / or ceiling panels shall be KEMLITE Kemply with Surfaseal fiberglass reinforced plastic panels as manufactured by KEMLITE COMPANY, Joliet, Illinois, USA

1. WALL PANELS

Wall panels shall be: (choose one substrate from chart below) substrate with a factory laminated white (choose one skin from chart below) skin, size to be (4 ft x 8 ft x 4 ft x 10 ft) and skin (single or double) sided.

SUBSTRATES

* In areas of extreme temperature (over 100 �F) Kemply polypropylene panels must be laminated on both sides with Glasbord frp skins to avoid warping. Lay-in ceiling panels should be laminated on both sides for all installations.

Note: Standard Kemply panel is 9/32" OSB with .05" Glasbord-PWI skin single sided. All other Kemply products are made to order and are non-cancelable.

2. LAY-IN CEILING PANELS

Lay-in ceiling panels shall be: (choose one substrate from chart below) substrate with a factory laminated white (choose one skin from chart below) skin, size to be (23.75" x 23.75" or 23.75" x 47.75") and skin (single or double) sided.

PART 1: GENERAL

This section describes the requirements for furnishing and installing fiberglass reinforced ceiling grid according to manufacturer's recommendations.

1.02 SUBMITTALS:

Submit in accordance with Section (Insert Section Number)

1. Two samples of each grid member and attachment clip.
2. Shop Drawings: Indicate the location of main tees and cross tees.
3. Installation Guide #6244.

1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE

Provide grid and clips only from the manufacturer specified to ensure warranty.

1.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING:

A. Delivery of Materials: Deliver grid and accessories in manufacturer's unopened cartons.

B. Storage of Materials: Store cartons in a dry place at the project site.

1.05 PROJECT CONDITIONS:

A. Installation shall not begin until building is enclosed, permanent heating and cooling equipment is in operation, and residual moisture from plaster, concrete or terrazzo work has dissipated.

B. During installation and for not less than 48 hours before, maintain an ambient temperature and relative humidity similar to what will be the normal operating conditions of the room.

3. Genuine Kemlite Sanigrid identified by a single black thread embedded in the vertical leg of the tees.

3.01 PREPARATION:

A. Ensure that all HVAC, electrical, plumbing and similar work above the ceiling level has been completed.

3.02 APPLICATION:

A. Do all cutting with carbide tipped saw blade.
