SPECIFICATION GUIDE

Stairs, platforms and counter-balanced stairs: All stairs, platforms and counter-balanced stairs as shown on architect’s drawings shall be as supplied by JOMY Safety Products, Inc., 6255 Longbow Dr., Boulder, CO. 80301 or the equivalent in accordance with plans and shop drawings as provided. All stairs and platforms shall be made from extruded anodized aluminum with stainless steel fasteners. Stairways and balconies shall support the dead load plus a live load of not less than 100 pounds per square foot (4.79 kN/m2) and shall be provided with a handrail. All stair and balcony railings shall support a horizontal force of not less than 50 pounds per lineal foot (729.5 N/m) of railing. The balustrade of each balcony shall not be less than 36" high. Pickets and rails shall be configured such that a 4" diameter sphere cannot pass through, except at triangular openings formed by riser, tread and rail which shall not permit a 6" diameter sphere to pass.

Stairs shall have a minimum width, as specified by the architect, of 36 inches (914 mm). Handrails may project into the required width a distance of 3 1/2 inches (89 mm) from each side of stairway. The rise of the steps shall be not less than 4 inches ((102 mm) nor greater than 10 inches (254 mm). Treads shall be 10 inches (254 mm) in depth.

Composition and Materials: Staircase and balconies are to be of extruded aluminum sections formed from 6061-T5 and 6063-T6 alloy. Tubular balusters are to be formed from 6005-T5 and T6 alloy. Attachment hardware including expansion bolts and pop-rivets are to be of stainless steel and are to be provided by JOMY Safety Products, Inc..

Finish: All aluminum components shall have a clear anodized finish on all exposed surfaces unless ordered in a custom color. All individual sections shall be separately wrapped in plastic film and shipped in cartons to the site designated by the contractor.

Installation: The contractor shall furnish and install the JOMY staircase, balconies and counter-balanced stairs where indicated on the architectural/ engineer-ing drawings. To ensure satisfactory performance, the manufacturer’s installation instructions, included with each shipment, must be strictly followed.

Warranty: The JOMY staircases, balconies and counter-balanced stairs are warranted to be free of any defects in materials or workmanship for 10 years if installed according to manufacturer specifications.
