SPECIFICATION DATA |
General
Excel 50UPC is designed as a controller with integrated communication capability. Excel 50UPC can be used as a standalone controller or integrated in the EXCEL 5000® system.
Typical applications of the Excel 50 controller are heating systems, district heating systems and small air conditioning plants for schools, retail stores, restaurants, small shops, offices, branch banks, churches and small distributed governmental houses.
The application software and the firmware, the system software, is stored in Flash-EPROM. The Flash-EPROM is located in the communication module, a separate module plugged into the rear of the controller housing. For future communication upgrades, only the communication module will have to be replaced. No changes to the controller or wiring are necessary.
The necessary interfaces for communication with the EXCEL 5000 system and for remote control operation are integrated in the Excel 50UPC controller and application modules so that there is no need for additional communication devices.
All changeable parts or switches are accessible without opening the controller housing.
Features
- Direct modem communication
Minimum hardware, installation and wiring costs - Ready to communicate within the Excel 5000 system
No submodule or other device needed to communicate within the system - Installation flexibility and simplicity
One device for a variety of installations (inside cabinet/DIN rail or cabinet front door) minimizes mounting costs - User-friendly, bus-wide operator interface
Most efficient operation, start-up and troubleshooting provided by system-wide access - Application flexibility
Uses the CARE application software package to create specific control solutions or to customize existing CARE applications - Simple commissioning
Time-efficient application software download into controller Flash-EPROM - Multiple operator interfaces
Devices with built-in or optional external operator interfaces for optimal selection based on frequency of use
Description
The Excel 50 controller has two housing versions, a housing with an operator interface (OI) and a housing without an OI. The external OI XI582 or the PC-based OI XI584 can be connected to all versions. The housing is mountable inside a cabinet (DIN-rail) or in a cabinet front door.
The controller has 8 analog inputs, 4 analog outputs, 4 digital inputs and 6 digital outputs. 3 out of 4 digital inputs can be used as totalizers. The digital outputs allow the direct drive of floating actuators (up to the maximum load).
The controller is wired with removable screw terminal blocks. Prewiring is possible, and a controller can be replaced without rewiring.
The Flash-EPROM in the communication module enables the download of new firmware versions. A modem can be connected to the serial port to allow remote access at up to 38.4 Kbps. The Excel 50UPC is fully compatible with the EXCEL 5000 system.
