Part 1 General

1.01 Work Included - The doors will be the Series "S" as manufactured by Raynor Garage Doors of Dixon, Illinois.

1.02 Related Work - Opening preparation, structural metal work, access panels, finish or field painting, field electrical wiring, wire, conduit, fuses and disconnect switches are in the Scope of Work of other divisions or trades.

Part 2 - Product

2.01 Door Sections - "S-26" (26 gauge) sections shall be 2" (50.8mm) thick, roll formed from commercial quality hot dipped galvanized steel per ASTM A-924 and A-653. Door sections to have ribbed, stucco embossed outside face and roll formed tongue and groove joint between sections for weathertight closure. End stiles and center stiles to be a minimum 16 gauge. End stiles and center stiles to be riveted to outside face with stainless steel rivets and resistance welded to interior rail. Section panels to be sealed at end stiles with 1/4" (6.4mm) thick polyethylene foam.

2.02 Door Sections - "S-24" (24 gauge) and "S-26" (26 gauge) - Sections shall be 2" (50.8mm) thick roll formed from commercial quality hot dipped galvanized steel per ASTM A-924 and A-653. Exterior of door to have a two-coat baked on polyester white (brown or Sepia brown also available on "S-24") over an epoxy primer. Each door section to have two deep ribs and four pencil grooves for additional strength and tongue and groove joints for weathertight closure between sections. S-24: 16 gauge through 14' 2" (4318 mm) wide and 13 gauge over 14' 2" (4318 mm) end stiles/16 gauge center stiles. S-20: 13 gauge end stiles/16 gauge center stiles. End stiles and center stiles to be riveted to outside face with stainless steel rivets and resistance welded to interior rail. Section panels to be sealed at end stiles with 1/4" (6.4mm) thick polyethylene foam.

2.03 Track - Hot dipped galvanized track per ASTM A-653, 2" (50.8mm) or 3" (76.3mm) depending on door size. Tracks to have Graduated Seal� for weathertight closing. Tracks to be bracket mounted or continuous angle mounted and fully adjustable for sealing door to jamb. Continuous angle size to be not less than 2-5/16" (58.7mm) x 4" (102mm) x 3/32" (2.4mm) on 2" (50.8mm) and 3-1/2" (88.9mm) x 5" (127mm) x 1/8" (3.2mm) on 3" (76.2mm) track. Horizontal track to be adequately reinforced with continuous angle. 

2.04 Hardware - All hinges and brackets made from galvanized steel. 2" (50.8mm) or 3" (76.2mm) diameter track rollers shall have hardened steel ball bearings.

2.05 Spring Counterbalance - Heavy duty oil tempered wire torsion springs on continuous ball bearing cross header shaft. Galvanized aircraft type lifting cables with minimum safety factory of 5 to 1.

2.06 Insulation - Will be expanded polystyrene (no CFCs) with an R-value of 6.11 and U-value of 0.164 or fiberglass with an R-value of 7.57 and U-value of 0.132.

2.07 Weatherstripping - Bottom of door to have flexible U-shaped vinyl seal in aluminum retainer. Perimeter seal for jambs, header and between sections optional.

2.08 Lock - Exterior Locking - Five pin tumbler cylinder with night latch and steel bar engaging track. Interior Locking - Interior dead bolt is provided with hole to receive padlock.

2.09 Glazing - Lite inserts to be 24" (610mm) x 8" (203mm) factory installed in DSB or 3/16" (4.8mm), 1/4" (6.4mm) wire glass, acrylic type materials or 5/8" (16mm) insulated glass. Full View aluminum intermediate sections may be furnished with DSB, 3/16" (4.8mm), 1/4" (6.4mm) clear or wire or plexiglass.

2.10 Wind Load - Series S-24 and S-20 doors designed to withstand 20 lbs. per sq. ft. (97.6 kg/m²). (Contact factory for specific wind load requirements on Series S-26.) Deflection of door in horizontal position to be maximum 1/120th of door width.

Part 3 - Execution

3.01 Installation - Raynor S Series doors shall be installed by an authorized Raynor Distributor.
